I soo apologize for my absence-I've been sick & writing my book, more later...
Almost a month ago, I saw JK Rowling, read from Book 7 of Harry Potter series-The Deathly Hallows. Talk about passion for her work-you could see the joy of talking to her fans-answering questions & signing books!
It was a sweepstakes & 2000 lucky winners were allowed to bring a guest to this exclusive event sponsored by Scholastic Publishing-they publish all of the Harry Potter books! (my husband won a spot & took me!)
But, the media searched for a "scandal"-and they made one out of an innocent question on whether Dumbledore ever had a girlfriend & fell in love? And (gasp!) there wasn't one...Rowling said she always saw Dumbledore as gay. Stop the Presses! :) For the full transcript-go to www.leakycauldron.com
This started a Media Frenzy! CNN broadcast the 'news" the next morning! And just about every TV tabloid/News show followed suit.
Harry Potter Books have central themes of valuing inclusion, diversity & love...guess the media forgot this!
Why write about this "old news" now? I just heard radio folks speculating & it's still fodder for watercooler chit-chat...
Now, the debate is whether JKRowling should've told this or no...what do you think? Do you care?
In Abundance!
