Transitions

Hi!

I've gotten lots of positive feedback about my blogging.  And a media expert advised me not to dilute my presence with 2 complete blogs!  As I learn and my small business grows, change must happen as well.

So, it's time to de-clutter & streamline!

The Transition Chick Blog-will include articles and musings on baby boomer women -  midlife women & transitions as well as insights on being a small business of one, a solopreneur!  This'll be at transitionchickblog.typepad.com

Love to hear your feedback!

Attitude Adjustment

Wow!  I got the best compliment from a client in S.Korea!  (I have global reach)  That wasn't the compliment...She said I was an Attitude Coach-I'm always so positive & look at possibilities not reasons to not take action...she said she feels better & more positive in her life.  She's a single mom, midlife woman going through career changes and dating again after almost 17 years.  Lots of transitions!

Psychology tells us what you believe is often the greatest predictor!  I always quote Ray Kroc of the "Golden Arches", McDonald's Founder! "Whether You Think You Can...or Think you Can't...You're Right."

What do you think?

What do we all posess equally?

If there's one question that is either directly stated or we see the effects...it's time-how to manage it better, keep track of, waste it...

TIME-there never seems to be enough!

I set my watch 5 minutes ahead to ensure I'm on time-psychology!  But, then I know this & stretch the limits!  But, I dutifully write everything down-my coaching appts, teleclasses and the time to prepare-so I get things done and feel accomplished!

I'm working with a client-who has a home business and can't seem to separate work from household responsibilities and gets nothing done on either!  We're designing an Outlook calendar-one for home, one for work-and she has what she needs to do to feel accomplished.

I normally don't advocate 2 or more calendars-but we're working on work/life balance & moving toward integration and color-coding!

What do you use to keep track of time?

4.   You feel no one really understands how you feel

3.   You feel overwhelmed-trouble prioritizing what to do first!

A Bicycle shift?

I was thinking as we pedaled along-(uh-oh, I see a metaphor coming!) We tried to shift into a better gear & waited, hoping, it would just hurry up already!  That's what many of my midlife women clients say...change is  uncomfortable...You just want it to shift to a new part without ever going through any discomfort.

And when it finally happens, you feel ready to continue, have a renewed sense of hope!  There's a feeling of calm, overall wellness and the discomfort is replaced with excitement-what's over that next hill?

What do you think of change?

Wellness vs. Health!

I started thinking about being healthy from both the INSIDE and out-now I know our Curves gym is a very positive place full of support & encouragement. It takes care of how we look and how we feel-as we get fitter and have more energy… I find that this feeling of wellness sometimes can emphasize other areas we might not feel so good about-areas where feeling negative. depressed are the norm... I work with midlife women primarily and often they look at going to the gym as a solution to all their ills! And when it doesn't, they're plunged into a tailspin. Change occurs outside, but the inner psychology-her perspective needs to catch up! We workout as well-set goals and follow an action plan-a diet of moving forward step-by-step. Sound familiar? Change...

Changing Planes-it’s a lot like life. Isn’t it?

You know being in an airport unfortunately “stuck” waiting to change planes is like life…It’s very similar to changing careers or any number of changes.  It seems everyone knows where they’re going but you.

It’s a feeling of directionlessness –(is that a word?)the stress of not knowing what you’re supposed to do!

You might talk with people to get more information (networking). Research the arrival & departure board or a combination of things.  You develop a plan.  One of action to move you toward a solution-less stress, feeling “all alone”. & toward your "life purpose"-getting that plane!  You have a guide to support & encourage you (the Flight manager) your “coach” that helps you find your way-Getting to that gate!

Metaphors can be fun!  Changing plans or planes is not!  Do you have any airline stories?
